Originally published in 2001, BrainyQuote is a big website with lots of famous quotes. We have quotes from important people throughout history, like celebrities, athletes, politicians, and writers. Our goal is to share knowledge through quotes. We also make animated versions of quotes to help people understand them better. We believe that listening to words can teach us a lot about history, politics, and culture.
After researching many quotes, I found a meaningful phrase by T.S. Eliot: "This love is silent." These words deeply connect with me, as they capture the mysterious nature of love. Intrigued by the abstract and ethereal aspects of this quote, I'm eager to explore how visual techniques can express the complex and subtle emotions of love.

I wanted to come up with three directions for the quote: one that utilized the proportional arrangement of different clips from the same movie, using the montage and movie context to bring out the quote “This love is silent.” The 2nd one is to utilize an abstract flower to express the "silently love" emotion. The grids make the flower blurry, which creates a visual metaphor for the emotion.

The 3rd direction will utilize several grids to bring up the body part that could express one’s emotion. Some grids are lit up, Some are dull. This random distribution represents the unexpected opportunity you keep silent or bring it into the air. In the end, the client and I chose the 2nd direction, by using the movement of gradient and color to explain this beautiful quote for Brainy Quote Company.

Notes of Quote:

With this quote, I am thinking about utilizing abstract colors and shapes to express this quote. The 1st reason is, that this emotion beautifully blurs the boundary between people. The 2nd reason is, that I wish this design could allow people to have more imagination about this quote.
I used a structured design that focuses on the design principle of visual following functionality. The timing of each element's appearance and the way the animation moves is related to the meaning of its QUOTE and to its emotional rhythm. The colors are hazy and vibrant to set the mood. The blurring effect is used in conjunction with the long staggered frames to create a complete quote.
